What if your Reiki attunement never really worked?
September 19, 2026
Can you lose your Reiki ability if you stop practising?
September 21, 2026No. In the Japanese system the attunement is Reiju, a spiritual blessing, and you cannot have too many blessings. Receive as many Reiju as you can, let go of the mental fuss, and simply sit in that healing space remembering who you are.
Over attuned? No, you cannot. If we look at the Japanese name, Reiju, the Japanese attunement process, if you like, it is a bit different. It is a blessing, a spiritual blessing. So can we have enough blessings in the world? I cannot get enough blessings.
So yes, please: get as many Reiju as you possibly can, and do not get too caught up in all the mental stuff. Just allow yourself to sit in the space of being in that beautiful healing space of Reiki, remembering who you are and remembering your interconnection with absolutely everything.
When this happens. People ask this after taking the same level twice with different teachers, or after a teacher warned them that repeated attunements would overload them.
What is actually going on. The warning comes from thinking of attunement as installing something. Reiju installs nothing; it is a reminder. In the Japanese association it was given at every meeting, for life.
What to do. Say yes to Reiju whenever it is offered by a teacher you trust. Afterwards, sit quietly for a few minutes instead of talking; that is where the reminder settles.
Ask your teacher this. “How often do you offer Reiju to students who have already trained with you?” The answer tells you how they understand the system.
