Can you give yourself Reiki while you sleep?
September 18, 2026I would never say an attunement or Reiju never worked; energetically we are all connected. What can happen is that a student is closed to the experience, or to the teacher, or the teacher was not in a good space when offering it and it might feel like it “didn’t work”. If that was your experience, try another teacher. You can have as many teachers, and as many Reiju, as you like.
Didn’t it work? I don’t know. I think that is a very subjective statement.
When we are working with energy, especially when there is a teacher and a student, it is all about those people and how they interact. The teacher needs to be in a whole space, as much as possible, when performing an attunement or Reiju. It is Reiju from a Japanese perspective, and that is what I do. I need to set the student up so they are open to the experience of being in that Reiju space, and I need to be experienced at doing that. It is something I teach people how to do.
I would never say that something never worked. I am not sure what that would mean or look like. But we can certainly be closed to something. A student can be closed to their teacher: maybe they do not like the teacher, maybe they do not want to be in the class. In that sense it might not work for you. But energetically, we are all connected.
If you are not happy with your experience with a teacher, try another teacher. Sometimes we just do not connect with some people. You can have as many Reiki teachers as you like, and as many Reiju, spiritual blessings, as you like too.
When this might feel like this. Often after a large, rushed class, an online attunement with no contact, or a teacher who told the student what they should feel and they felt nothing of the kind.
What is actually going on. Nothing was switched on or left off. Reiju is a shared space, and a space needs two open people. If either was closed, distracted or performing, the experience will have been thin. Thin is not broken.
What to do. Practise anyway, daily, for a month: the precepts, Joshin Kokyu Ho, hands on. Then receive Reiju again, from the same teacher or another. Compare the two experiences; you will have far more to compare the second time.
Ask your teacher this. “Can I receive Reiju again?” A teacher who says no, or who says once is all you need, has misunderstood what Reiju is.
