Immerse yourself in a unique 10-minute meditation journey that encourages loving kindness between, and for, everyone.
You’re invited to envision hosting your own Western-style tea ceremony with a friend or partner. Embrace the spirit of generous, open-hearted hospitality as you and your guest choose and brew tea in companionable and contemplative silence. While savouring your imagined cups of tea, Bronwen guides you through reflective questions about the essence of sharing, giving, and receiving.
As the meditation draws to a close, open your eyes to softly connect with your guest’s gaze and place your palms on each other’s chest, breathing gently together.
Bronwen has supplied some thoughtful discussion notes to follow-up the meditation for those who wish to get the most out of the Love2Share meditation.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
Here are three suggestions for you…
1. This meditation serves as a beautiful gift for your partner, a shared experience that deepens your mutual understanding and connection. It’s an opportunity to explore the dynamics of giving, receiving, and sharing in your relationship. Find a cozy space, sit opposite each other, close enough to feel each other’s presence and eventually to touch.
2. It’s also a wonderful practice to share with a dear friend or a close family member, helping to cultivate deeper empathy and affection. While Bronwen uses the term ‘partner’ during the meditation, it broadly encompasses anyone significant in your life, be it a friend, family member, or life partner. Towards the end, you’ll be guided to place your palm on the centre of each other’s chest, symbolizing connection and understanding. Remember, consent is key – feel free to adapt this gesture in a way that feels right for both of you, whether it’s a different touch or simply a near touch.
3. And don’t forget, this meditation is just as powerful when practised alone. It’s a visual journey where you can meet and embrace your own self. Allow this experience to be a celebration of self-love. Use this time to discover and appreciate new ways to love and care for yourself.
POST MEDITATION
Here are some ideas for engaging in a constructive and heartfelt conversation about your relationship, building on the insights gained during this meditation.
1. Share Your Insights: Encourage each other to take turns sharing reflections on the questions asked during the meditation. Express your thoughts and feelings openly and honestly.
2. Active Listening: Remember the importance of active listening. Listen attentively without interrupting while the other shares their thoughts.
3. Non-Judgmental Environment: Create a safe and non-judgmental space for the discussion. Remind partners that the purpose is not to criticize but to understand each other better.
4. Empathy and Validation: Encourage partners to validate each other’s feelings and experiences. Expressing empathy and understanding can strengthen the connection.
5. Actionable Steps: Invite partners to brainstorm actionable steps or intentions based on their reflections. What can they do to improve their relationship and the care they provide to each other?
6. Gratitude and Appreciation: Conclude the discussion by inviting partners to express gratitude and appreciation for each other. Encourage them to acknowledge the love and care they share.
