About Marleen

Marleen is a Certified Medical Reiki Master, founder of Medical Reiki International, and owner of Angel & Gift World in Sligo, a holistic shop and healing centre serving the community for over 17 years. She has more than 25 years of Reiki experience and over 15 years of teaching, supporting thousands of people through treatments, workshops, and professional training programmes.

Before dedicating herself fully to holistic healing, Marleen built a successful career in media, education, and design. She studied media and graphic design in college, worked with one of Ireland’s leading television stations, taught layout and design to newspaper publications throughout Ireland, delivered graphic design courses, and ran her own graphic design business. This background helped shape the communication and teaching skills that are central to her Reiki training.

Marleen has also trained in a variety of energy-based modalities, including Light on the Path. Her greatest passion is Medical Reiki and exploring how Reiki can work alongside mainstream healthcare in a professional, ethical, and compassionate way. Through Medical Reiki International, she has trained and mentored practitioners worldwide, helping them confidently bring Reiki into healthcare settings.

Dedicated to raising standards in Reiki education and professional practice, Marleen continues to advocate for the integration of Reiki into healthcare. Her vision is a future where Reiki is accessible, respected, and recognized as a valued part of healthcare, working alongside conventional medicine to support healing, wellbeing, and patient care.

About Helene

Helene is a bachelor’s prepared registered nurse, published author, and graduate teacher of The International House of Reiki. She has over nineteen years of experience providing Reiki sessions in hospital, hospice, and extended care facility settings. She has a well-established private practice where she teaches traditional Japanese Reiki and mindfulness meditation classes and is a lead teacher for Medical Reiki International, based in Sligo, Ireland.

She has presented information on Reiki and holistic health care internationally, participated in a hospital-based Reiki research study, implemented and facilitated a hospital Reiki Volunteer Program, and, in 2013, established the Lancaster Community Reiki Clinic. She provides weekly online Reiki meditation sessions for the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

She has served on the Board of the Center for Reiki Research and has been interviewed for the podcasts Our Shared Belonging, From Doctor to Patient, Dive into Reiki, and Be the Light. Her passion is to provide educational opportunities to healthcare organizations about the many benefits of Reiki and meditation for patients, families, and staff.
