Do Not Anger

Practice Equanimity and Professionalism
  • Maintain emotional composure and professional boundaries with all clients and students, regardless of challenging circumstances.
  • Address conflicts or disagreements with calm, respectful communication rather than reactive emotion.
  • Refrain from practicing or teaching when in a state of anger or emotional disturbance that could affect the quality of care.
  • Create a safe, non-judgmental space free from hostility or aggression.

Do Not Worry

Cultivate Trust and Present-Moment Awareness
  • Focus fully on each client or student during sessions, releasing anxieties about outcomes.
  • Avoid making promises or guarantees about healing results; trust the Reiki process.
  • Practice within your scope of training and refer clients to appropriate healthcare professionals when needed.
  • Maintain appropriate professional insurance and safeguards without allowing fear to drive decisions.

Be Grateful

Honor the Practice and Those You Serve
  • Acknowledge the privilege of serving others through Reiki practice.
  • Respect each client’s and student’s unique journey without imposing expectations.
  • Practice cultural sensitivity and recognize the system of Reiki’s Japanese origins with respect.
  • Offer accessible pricing options or sliding scale fees when possible.

Be True to Your Way

Maintain Integrity and Authenticity
  • Practice and teach the system of Reiki honestly, without exaggeration or misrepresentation of abilities or credentials.
  • Maintain clear, appropriate boundaries regarding physical touch, confidentiality, and professional relationships.
  • Continue your own personal Reiki practice and professional development.
  • Honor your training lineage while allowing your authentic teaching style to emerge.
  • Never exploit the trust placed in you by clients or students for personal, financial, or sexual gain.

Be Compassionate

Practice with Heart
  • Approach all clients and students with kindness, regardless of background, beliefs, or circumstances.
  • Recognize and respect each person’s autonomy in their healing journey.
  • Practice Hatsurei Hō regularly and self-healing to avoid burnout and maintain your own wellbeing.
  • Offer grace to yourself when facing challenges or mistakes, using them as opportunities for growth.
  • Support fellow practitioners with generosity rather than competition or judgment.
